We appreciate the opportunity to provide feedback on Bill 162. Our input focuses on the proposed changes to Wellington County Official Plan Amendment 119, specifically the re-establishment of Clifford’s settlement boundary expansion (as per modifications 25, 28 l), and 31). We are in support of the proposed modifications and have attached the following:
1. Attachment 1 – A report from the Wellington County Planning Committee dated March 14, 2024, endorsing the Bill 162 modifications.
2. Attachment 2 – Town of Minto Council resolution from November 21, 2023, directing staff to respond to the letter from the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing (dated November 2, 2023), expressing support to maintain the urban expansion in Clifford.
3. Attachment 3 –Town of Minto Council resolution from February 6, 2024, which directed staff to request, through the ERO posting for OPA 120, that the Clifford urban expansion be re-introduced.
We believe that Bill 162 positively contributes to the government’s objective of building at least 1.5 million new homes by 2031. We would like to thank the Province for considering municipal feedback in this legislation.
