Omnibus Bill 162
This bill will have a detrimental impact to the Health & Well-being of the people of Ontario.
The bill will escalate the effects of Climate Change by facilitating highway construction and urban sprawl into farmland with changes to land expropriation and environmental assessments.
Carbon Taxes are working and brings in revenue while we are in this transitional phase out period from fossil fuels.
The forced boundary expansions to the Official Plans of Waterloo Region and Halton will cause unnecessary destruction of thousands of acres of prime farmland along with other modifications in Guelph, Wellington County, and elsewhere.
Urban Boundaries of Waterloo should not be forced upon them for development on groundwater recharge areas of the Waterloo Moraine creating serious concerns for their drinking water supply.
We disagree with several schedules in this proposal including...
Schedule 1 - Environmental Assessment Act changes to make it easier to expropriate land for new highways and developments,
Schedule 3 - Official Plan Adjustment Act that forces urban sprawl onto farmland and compromises Official Plans,
Schedule 5 - Protecting Against Carbon Taxes Act the prevents future carbon pricing in Ontario,
Schedule 6 - Public Transportation and Highway Improvement Act that prohibits road tolls (except on Hwy #407).
