As a bear hunter I welcome the shorter distance I will need to carry bait to my site although I think 30 meters may be a little close to a road. I'm thinking maybe 100 m would be better, we don't want the non hunting public to see a lot of bears close to the road. Lire davantage

I suggest they increase the distance to 300 meters. Any less than 200 meters will have the possibility of bystander children seeing the shooting which the parents would object to.

I think the reducing of the setback limit is a good step. It didn't seem to make it safer when all it did was create hardship for baiters.

Hi I would support the changes as stated ,however I would not want any changes to the distance required from buildings regardless of type. Lire davantage

My response to ERO 019-0022: I am totally opposed to the proposal to encourage bears to come closer to humans through the change in baiting regulations. There is no real need for this change and it is very very dangerous. Lire davantage

There are significantly more recreationalists such as bird watchers, hikers, dog walkers, photographers, geocachers, and families than hunters or outfitters in the province, many of whom are unfamiliar with hunting and firearm safety protocols who may be put at risk as a result of this move. Some one is going to die... reducing to 30 metres. Guns shoot more than 30 metres and people could be walking in the area. Nuisance animals can also become a problem by reducing the distance

My family and myself hunt bears, we have baited bears in doing so. The reduction of distance from a trail or ROW could be subject to unmarked trails and unofficial un-maintained roads. Lire davantage

This is a positive move. The 200 meter distance decision was done in haste and IMO was wrong. 30 meters is manageable and I can see a need to get the bait off any type of trail. Sitting close to a trail or on a trail is for lazy hunters .... 30 meters should work out fine. Lire davantage

This will not go well. Pets and children will get hurt. There will be outrage and scandal which will bring publicity to the business of hunting, and ultimately all hunting will be banned.

I actively opposes ERO 019-0022 to reduce minimum distance requirement for placement of bait from rights of way and trails for black bear hunting. I do not agree with this proposal at all. Lire davantage

As more recreationalists who are not hunters use wild spaces, regulations should be put in place to protect them – not increase the possibility or probability that they will be harmed by hunting and hunting-related activities such as baiting. Thanks
