I own a greeting card and gift store called TOWN. We are located on Bloor Street West, near the corner of Brock Avenue. The proposal in Bill 212, The Reducing Gridlock, Saving You Time Act, 2024, to remove bikes lanes on major thoroughfares, especially Bloor Street, is very concerning to me. Lire davantage

Please, do not remove the bike lanes. Bike lanes are what the city needs, if you fully complete a bike lane people will use them. There are many places where cyclists can either face the risk of biking beside cars or to be cursed out by pedestrians on the sidewalks. Lire davantage

To pass this bill is to destroy nature and distance ourselves from it in the most direct way possible. For some reason North America has gone with one of the least efficient, most expensive, and worst for the environment methods of transportation as the main way to get around. Lire davantage

I do not agree with the ability of Bill 212 to disallow the need for environmental assessments on new highway projects. It is well documented that the planned Highway 413 poses a threat to birds and fish. Lire davantage

Bad for business. What are you thinking? More cars in gridlock won't increase my sales. Who actually thought this was good policy and why are they still employed?

It's embarrassing the government has not learned about induced demand. Would it kill them to read anything?

So the objective is more cars and more gridlock? Why would the government propose such a stupid costly thing. More Road means more cars means more gridlock means more conge9means slower travel times a s they want ME to pay for this? Did someone fall and hit their head?

This bill is a clear overreach of provincial powers into municipal matters and is very clearly drafted to create outrage over a non-urgent issue so that the province can skip over any environmental assessment that is REQUIRED to build Highway 413 because the OPC putting this forward knows that Highw Lire davantage

I am providing a comment to say it is worrying that Bill 212 seems to be punitive towards bike lanes, without addressing issues of bike safety. Bike lanes are not Provincial jurisdiction. Lire davantage

I am deeply disturbed by this proposed legislation that would make road safety for drivers and cyclists even worse than it currently is by removing bike lanes. Lire davantage

Two entire lanes of University are blocked for parking. Southbound University during morning rush hour, I counted 21 parked cars and a french fry truck. Removing this parking during rush hour should be considered LONG before we talk about removing the amazing cycling infrastructure. Lire davantage

I can't believe this is happening, and people seriously want to revert Toronto back by several decades and undo all the progress that was made in terms of accessibility and transportation alternatives to driving. This bill shall never be approved.

Please do not remove the bike lanes on Toronto’s major arteries. Traffic will be so much worse because it will lead to bikes being in and amongst traffic.

It has been evident time and again that adding more lanes to existing roads does not effectively end congestion. Providing alternative modes of transport outside of cars, such as BIKE LANES, and other modes of public transportation does. Lire davantage

I am strongly opposed to anything that removes bike lanes. Investing in bike lanes and robust public transit systems is essential to future-proof our urban landscapes. More streets and highways may momentarily ease traffic, but they ultimately lead to more cars, more emissions, and more gridlock. Lire davantage
