As a transportation planner for the City of Hamilton, I do not support this bill. There are endless studies and factual data that prove that increasing vehicle lanes do NOT increase traffic flow, but instead, increase congestion over time. Lire davantage

Like many people in Toronto, I grew up driving everywhere from our family home in midtown (back when it took 15 mins to get anywhere). Lire davantage

This proposal is worded as if only the movement of cars is considered important. Bicycles are a form of transport. Clean, cheap, efficient transport. Removing/reducing bike lanes is shortsighted, retrograde thinking. The biggest hindrance to cars are in fact streetcars.

All research shows that this will not work long term. The only true way to reduce traffic is by creating stronger public transit.

The Ontario government is scrambling to solve traffic congestion by targeting a group who choose to travel in an environmentally and traffic-reducing responsible way: cyclists. Bike lanes are not the problem. In fact, they contribute to traffic reduction. Lire davantage

This idea is fraught with falsehoods. This will NOT reduce gridlock. It is a step in the wrong direction. Cycling is preventative healthcare at its finest. Cycling is the most efficient way to combat poor air quality, reduce congestion, reduce noise. Lire davantage

Remove as much public traffic lane as possible. The road should be for buses, emergency vehicles, construction vehicle and taxi almost exclusively. Adding bikelane is a good start but we need full commuting streets: Bus, trams, bike ect… POMVs are a problem.

Not only is this a ridiculous waste of time, resources, and money by the provincial government but puts cyclists in Ontario at risk. Lire davantage

Incredulous proposition. The provincial government is not in the trenches and therefore should not get any say in what happens in municipal bike lane/traffic affairs. Lire davantage

Apologies I already submitted a comment, but I thought of an additional important point regarding the environment. Lire davantage

This is ridiculous. Municpaloties should be encouraged to introduce bike lanes not have to go through bureaucratic red tape to appease Ford and his anti-bike wishes. Shame on Ford.

To say that accidents can worsen traffic congestion and impact the quality of life of Ontarians ignores the very real and very unnecessary growing number of cyclist and pedestrian deaths that occur because of the prioritization of motorized vehicles in this province. Lire davantage

Governing on the basis of revenge is malicious. Bike lanes make it much safer for bikers. Bike lanes do not cause gridlock, an excess of cars on the road causes gridlock. Get public transit working, and get individuals out of cars when there are better options

By reducing the alternatives to driving, removing bike lanes will increase the amount of cars on the road. Study after study shows the benefit of bike lanes. Bike lanes are extremely important for delivery services to get where they need to go because cars block up the road anyways. Lire davantage

There is plenty of research done that proves bike lines do not add to congestion Congestion is solved by investing in public transit and getting more cars off the road All this legislation stands to do is increase gridlock and endanger pedestrians and cyclists

You are doing an enormous disservice to our city and its inhabitants by removing bike lanes. We should be adding more, safer, bike lanes, not removing them. We need to provide people the option of healthy, clean transportation in the downtown core. Lire davantage

I wholeheartedly oppose this proposal. I live in Toronto and commute to work by bike. Removing bike lanes will NOT save commuters time. Bike lanes allow for faster flow of more people than car lanes and are supported by urbanists, environmental advocates and BUSINESSES along bike routes. Lire davantage

Removing bike lanes will only force more people to use cars and increase gridlock. Why make traffic and parking even worse?

I really disagree with this proposal. Bike networks are essential for safety, get people out of cars and into modes of transportation that keep them active and healthy, and create fewer harmful air pollutants and GHG emissions. Lire davantage

If Doug Ford has 3 billion kicking around to pay everyone in Ontario $200, he has money for transit
