I am a taxpayer living in the Parkdale High-Park riding. I own a car, cycle, walk and take transit to get where I need to be. Lire davantage

Bike lanes are very important and their installation and maintenance should be the city's responsibility. The province should not be able to decide to remove bike lanes on a whim. Lire davantage

As a downtown Toronto resident whose primary modes of transportation are cycling, transit, and walking, I'll keep my comments specific to that context. Lire davantage

The government's proposal to limit the construction of bike lanes and remove existing lanes is counter productive, ill considered, and a gross overreach of jurisdiction, and will directly result in more deaths, reduced business, and increased traffic time. Lire davantage

I hate this proposed legislation. I thought Doug Ford didn’t like red tape? This is just more regulation and red tape to build infrastructure.

As a resident on bloor, I’m disappointed by this bill. As a tax payer and a cyclist, it is my right to feel safe on the roads which I help pay for. I ask the government to reconsider and look at the science and data.

Thé one positive aspect of this proposed bill is its consistency with the Ford gov’t’s other socially backward policies. Lire davantage

Bike lanes are proven to reduce road congestion, increase public safety, and promote local business throughout the world. The Government of Ontario should join this century. Bicycle riders gave as much right to taxpayer supported safe movement as vehicle drivers and pedestrians. Lire davantage

Bike lanes don't cause traffic. Cars cause traffic. People use cars when they can't access reliable transit service. Lire davantage

I do not support a move that will kill people, increase congestion, and involves massive provincial overreach. This move to restrict bike lanes has no basis in any reality and has zero facts to back it up.

Bike lanes have been proved to move people more efficiently than cars. Requiring approval will cause gridlock to worsen. This bill is backward and is incompatible with Ontarios current growth rate.

The only way to improve traffic is to create viable ALTERNATIVES to driving. Making driving the ONLY OPTION means MORE CARS on the road, which means more traffic, which means longer commutes. Lire davantage

Bike lanes are good for cities. Walking is good for people. The ongoing narrative that more car lanes decreases congestion has long been demystified in many other cities. Lire davantage

I don't adding this kind of study requirement, review, and time... all of which will require more public servants, and delay anything getting done... is a good use of time. Lire davantage

What an awful idea! And completely counter-intuitive to what you are trying to accomplish. Not only will bike lines decrease gridlock as more people will be able to commute using the lanes, it will also improve the quality of life of so many people. Not to mention public safety. Lire davantage

Really bad idea not grounded in any sort of reality. Studies show that bike lanes REDUCE congestion and REDUCE death. This is Doug Ford and the PC Party waging culture war and nothing more, while showcasing how the party prioritizes the privileged over the many. Lire davantage

The provincial government should not be in the business of legislating based on the premier’s personal grudge against a city that didn’t vote for him and his commute to work on the few days a year he actually deigns to work. Lire davantage

This is an incredibly misguided bill that is both an overreach of provincial powers into municipal affairs as well as wholly unsupported by data. If the government goes forward with this plan, it will mean wasted taxpayer money and people who ride bikes will die, full stop.

Bike lanes actually reduce congestion. Leave them up to the municipalities to govern what they need to do for their citizens and the roads. Worry about the PROVINCIAL files. Lire davantage

You can't reduce gridlock by taking out bike lanes. All those people on bikes, will be force to take cars, adding to the gridlock! The more people you take out of cars via different modes of transportation, the less gridlock you get. Lire davantage
