Icall on the provincial government to ensure nuclear emergency response plans are in place to:
• Protect people from Fukushima-scale accidents;
• Protect vulnerable communities;
• Protect drinking water;
• Ensure transparency and public participation;

If we must continue with nuclear energy as frightening as this policy is, please work toward realistic preparation for an accident such as that on the scale of Fukushima. To continue on this road to energy production is a "heads in the sand" direction.

Stop nuclear energy. This is insanity! The world is shutting down its reactors while the Ontario government is trying to fire ours up. My family and friends are shaking our heads in disbelief.

It is known (and you know it too) that there is no foolproof way to have nuclear plants that are 100% safe, and there is no way to dispose of nuclear waste except storage (which cannot be guaranteed to be safe).

I'm writing to express my concern with the aging nuclear power plants within the proximity to toronto (from both Canadian and American borders). I believe we need to have a comprehensive plan in regards to a large scale emergency, not just small scale.

Ontario needs an emergency nuclear safety plan that protects our water, protects vulnerable communities, is for a Fukushima-scale disaster, ensures transparency and public participation, exceeds international best practices .

We need to have the general public safety at heart , not empty words that no one buys into as actions speak louder than words convince us that you hear the public. We have that right to be heard .

Though I am for Nuclear Power the thought of dealing with a Nuclear disaster needs to be asked of provincial and national leaders. Kindly let Environmental Safety be you first concern and responsibility.

Why is Ontario not recommending the highest standards of preparation for a nuclear emergency response? I’m assuming that it is to save money?? The risk is continuing to grow as our preparation stagnates. The reactors are aging. The world has witnessed two major accidents—the worst can happen.

Nuclear power, incompatible with (human) life, should have been abolished a long time ago. Most older reactors are approaching the end of their life span. When they were built in the 60s and 70s it was determined that they would be operational for about 40 years.

Please do the right thing and consider public safety as the number one priority in decisions about nuclear power. Number 2 priority should be safe drinking water. Why should we be considering nuclear power at all- we don't need it. We should be focussing on renewable energy.

Keeping the Pickering and Darlington Nuclear plants running is putting millions of us at risk. Just because there has not been a major accident here does not mean it cannot still happen.

Please wake up and smell the coffee. When you do nothing you are part of the problem. Soon it will be too late to do anything.

Please put public safety first. While other developed countries are phasing out nuclear power due to it's inherent dangers and unsustainability, Ontario is turning a blind eye to the sky rocketing costs and putting millions of people at risk.
