Respecting the environment is expensive but we can't be selfish. There is no doubt our actions are suffocating the planet (I understand chemistry and don't understand how there can be any debate regarding the issue unless there's money involved in saying otherwise [which of course there is]).

The Cap and Trade system in Ontario has been an enormous benefit to Ontarians, providing access to a larger, unified carbon market to businesses, and valuable subsidies to residents to help reduce energy use.

It has never been more of a critical time to have a solid Science based Ontario climate change plan that immediately puts into action reducing our carbon emissions with targets to implement immediately.

I appreciate the current governments desire to save Ontarians money and creat and sustain jobs. Repealing the CCMLEA won't do that and will introduce a legacy of cost to the current and future generations.

Cap and Trade Act should definitely not be cancelled. At this point in time it is something that we desperately need for our future. It provides tons of ways to help the province adapt to climate change.

Climate change is REAL. We need a REAL climate change plan. Ontario needs to 100% powered by CLEAN energy by 2050.
The government claims there are economic costs to reducing emissions. That is not true. Creating a clean economy will help save energy and create jobs.

Cancelled gas plants, cancelled wind farms, same result, different government. Both are going to cost tax payers millions in legal fees for broken contracts.

Ontario’s new PC government, like the Trump administration, appears to feel no urgency to act to stop or retard climate change. Its first acts after taking power accelerated climate change even before formulating an emissions reduction policy.

I believe the province needs to bring back the Cap and Trade program. We need to charge a price for carbon as we all experience the effects that it has on the atmosphere. We need to do something as a province, we can't just leave it to the federal government to deal with.
Leadership maintains that they do not deny the dangers climate change presents, just that they do not agree with the provinces Cap & Trade system.

I can't understand why everyone is not concerned re environment and what we are doing to it. It seems obvious to me that we are having more issues - dry seasons and forest fires, extreme weather - tornadoes, hurricanes, flooding etc.

I think cancelling cap and trade is a mistake. Cap and trade is making this government money. It is not a tax. Cancelling it could also mean that the government is paying for costly lawsuits from Québec and California.
