Cancelling the cap and trade program is the opposite of what we need to do as a country in order to prevent climate change and limit environmental damage. Please consider keeping this program in place for longer and reviewing the efficacy of it as we go. Read more

The gov't of Ontario must put a $$ on pollution making polluters pay for their emissions. Furthermore, the people of Ontario deserve to be powered by clean energy by 2050. We want this to become a reality but feel helpless in getting through to those in power.

Even the thought of this Act is irresponsible. It is the farthest thing from being "for the people" as it could be. Multiple reports have come out this week confirming that drastic action needs to happen to curtail climate catastrophe past 2030 of temperatures climbing past 1.5ºC. Read more

I am extremely concerned that the province is cancelling the Climate Change Mitigation and Low-carbon Economy Act. We need a serious effort to lower our carbon output and we need it now. Cancelling this act is like pushing on the accelerator when we need to be pressing the brakes. Read more

Dear Environmental Registry of Ontario, It is a real shame that the Cap and Trade bill was cancelled, it was making so much progress for companies to keep in mind that pollution exists. I am wondering why this is? Due to corruption perhaps? Bill 4 was a win for everyone. Read more

Cancelling cap and trade in Ontario is morally bankrupt and economically unwise. A price on carbon is the best strategy to reduce GHG emissions that the world's economists have developed. Voluntary stewardship by industry does not work. We have proven that. Read more

This is shameful, the only way to get people to pollute less is to pay more when they pollute more. We see the effects of climate change all around us and I think many of us are worried for our children’s future if we don’t reduce our impact on the environment. Read more

A cancellation of Cap and Trade is a short sighted and costly move. Taxpayers will not only be paying for reimbursements to companies that were already working toward the original goal, but will now be funding more studies and the preparation of a new "act". It is a frivolous waste of money. Read more

I am strongly opposed to the rollback of Ontario's environmental regulations, particularly to Bill 4, Cap and Trade Cancellation Act, 2018. We are at a point where we need more, not less, action on the environment, especially climate change. This is our future. Read more

I want Ontario to take climate change mitigation seriously, by implementing policies that ensure we reduce our emissions. In light of the recent UN report, i believe it is in our best interest to act, and I will be disappointed if we take steps in the wrong direction. Read more

In view of the overwhelming evidence in support of climate change and especially in light of the most recent report of the International Panel on Climate Change underlining the urgency of the need for action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, this may be the most misguided piece of legislation intr Read more
