I have seen first hand the damage these cormorants have done. Trees destroyed, water fouled. They seem to damage more and more every year. Not only is the shoreline and surrounding forest disgusting with filth and un-visitable, how many other animals have they displaced? Read more

As a cottage owner and avid fisherman I have seen the devastation double breasted cormorants can do to small vegetated islands and have seen the amount of food ( fish) they can consume in a day. I am totally in favour of a hunt. Thank you.

I absolutely support a cormorant season in Ontario. As a NY resident and avid outdoorsman in the thousand islands I have seen the devastation they cause. Hopefully NY will follow suit, until then I will buy an Ontario hunting licencse and participate!

I am excited to see the proposed season I believe it is long overdue this will ensure proper management of a species that is clearly overpopulated on our and surrounding lakes. This will ensure the fishery for generations to come. Thank you. This is a god send.

It's about time these nuisance birds get mention. They are destructible killing machines. Not only do they destroy landscape but also they are eating machines. I have personally watched fish after fish go down the throat of these birds. And of course what goes in goes out. Read more

A hunting season for the double-crested cormorant is not needed, as it lacks ecological justification. The proposal itself states that their populations have finally stabilized and even possibly begun to decline, and that the anticipated ecological impact of this proposal is all but neutral. A large part of the cormorant population is located on the Leslie Street S[it. This area is close to water with a lot of boat traffic in the summer and on weekends, people enjoying hiking and cycling on the Spit. It makes no sense to have gunfire happening here. Read more

This is a dumb and dangerous idea for many reasons. It brings hunting guns to downtown Toronto (like we don't have enough guns in the area) and to Toronto Islands, unless the hunters plan to become airborne to land in their motorboats from uptown. Read more

I object to the proposed "hunting season" for cormorants. The proposal seeks to legalize the hunting of a species that has neither a sport nor food value associated with it, as evidenced by the proposal to allow "wastage" of cormorants killed in this manner. Read more

I am appalled at the thought of sacrificing these beautiful birds for the sake of fishermen. How can you morally justify it? There isn't an over population of the cormorants. Quite the opposite as you have stated in your article. Please, please rethink this proposal.
