I am a resident of point traverse in eastern Lake Ontario. The proposal for the cormorants is long overdue as we have watched them destroy the forested parts of false duck island and are now hard at work destroying trees on timber island with their nesting patterns. Read more

I support this motion but do not agree to the proposal of amending the law to allow the meat to spoil. If we are going to responsibly manage Ontario's wildlife then those who decide to hunt the animal should have the responsibility to ensure that animal does not go to waste. . Read more

I have fished / hunted practically all of my 71 years and the Cormorant is / has to be one of the factors that has changed the fisherie populations in our province, inland from the Great Lakes which have been decimated since at least the late 80’s ! Read more

What is the reasoning behind a bag limit of 50 cormorants/day? And a season that goes from March to December all across Ontario?!!! That's a lot of cormorants per person!! Are we trying to eliminate them entirely?? I firmly believe ALL species are important and valuable to our ecosystem.

I am against these changes. The proposal is essentially for a wholesale permanent cull of the cormorant population. The rationale of aesthetics, island conditions and fish population declines seem very weak for a such a radical policy change. Read more

I support the proposal to the extent that nesting habitats and foraging on fish species has indicated deleterious effects as in the New York /Cornelle U research on Geneva Lake back in the population boom and displacement days. Read more

This proposal is troubling. Using “views expressed” as the impetus to implement a hunting season that is nine months is not sufficient enough. Why not study the population to understand if there is an overpopulation before you attempt to irradicate the species?
