By moving towards a modern digital service, Ontario would be eliminating the administrative burden of processing over 450,000 paper documents for the hazardous waste program. This would support businesses by making it easier to submit all program reports electronically, saving time and money.
As a Toronto business, we already have three levels of waste reporting, federal, provincial, and municipal. Like CRA collects taxes on behalf of provinces and the feds in one remittance, can you unify and harmonize your reporting with the other two levels of government?

I agree the HWIN program needs updating as I currently have a excel spreadsheet to keep track of my over 50 login names to access all U of T registered sites. It is most inconvenient and can take up to 5 hours to login, confirm, pay and logout for all fees associated with our sites.

1. the proposal is vague as to what will be regulated.
2. it appears more administrative burden will be placed on small business rather than less as suggested

My only concern, as a small business owner, is what additional costs will we now incur in relation to these proposed changes? If they company is now setting their own fees, will we see a huge jump in the costs? Small business cannot afford higher fees.
Excellent to see this is catching up with the times. Sincerely hope to see the cost savings trickle down to the clients who are registered.
Thank you for this initiative.
Fees charged and collected for the new program must remain in the program. Excess funds and the end of the year can be directed to lowering the cost of the service.
Hello,
It sounds interesting to go digital. it'd be nice though if we could also have the identification of wastes treatments right away. According to our wastes codes for ex.
It will allow us to see our metrics and follow up on our trend.
Thank you
Sylvia
The movement to digital reporting is a step in the right direction. The current reporting process using paper-based data input is cumbersome and archaic, and prone to error.
Moving to a digital program to track waste flow is a good idea.
Moving the responsibility for waste administration to non-crown organization is a very bad idea.

Missing a lot of details here. Main concern is this read like you're putting responsibility across all waste management sectors to become responsible. Really? You trust private sector? You'd be the sole one to do so. Missing information on costs.

It is about time the HWIN system was electronic, too much paper waste, the only problem I can see is the system has to be very user friendly, as some of the new government websites are not especially for small businesses.
We are operating as a dental clinic generating a small amount of X-ray fixer solution which needs to be removed periodically by a certified carrier. The volume involved is less than 30 litres every 3 years.

How will this work for small generators who pay more for registration than tonnage fees each year? Currently I depend on the disposal companies to ensure my reports are filled up correctly.
