Considering the climate crisis and the LARGE number of trees already lost in Australia, Alberta, California , and many other wild fires across the globe, I find it narrow minded for the Ontario government to even suggest such a proposal. People NEED trees to breath clean air. Read more

We need to protect our forests, this is going to be good for tourism, health (mental and physical), making our cities beautiful and more valuable, keeping our biodiversity protected, etc etc etc. Money cannot help us if we are not healthy or happy.

I support the forestry strategy in general. We practice world class sustainable forest management in Ontario and this strategy has the potential to be a step in the right direction to modernize and innovate our greenest industry in a time of climate uncertainty.

Easing regulations is not going to help our forests! Being a steward to a heritage woodlot, I appreciate the length of time it takes to have trees grown properly and the precise conditions needed for a sustainable forest. We need greater regulations and increased growth of our forest resources. Read more

-I see many positive changes coming from Ontario's new Forest sector strategy. For example the reduction in the red tape and redundancies in legislation. They can place an unnecessary burden on SFL holders and ultimately can slow down forest operations. Read more

As a recent forest technician program graduate, reading this privides a lot of hope for the future of forestry. However, I believe that this does not address some areas properly. I think that more focus onto protecting wildlife and being environmentally concious is needed. Read more

Forest harvesting affects tourism opportunities negatively. Buffer zones around cottage lakes and recreational trails and canoe routes should be expanded to ensure that outdoor recreation activities are not negatively affected by the harvesting process or its aftermath. Read more
