These amendments should be repealed. Removing site plan control from municipalities, and requiring zero public notice is an un-democratic use of these powers by the Minister.
I am pleased to see this consultation with the public, and hope it will not be swept under the rug by corporations’ or other countries’ powers in directing our government officials.

These amendments to the Planning Act are unacceptable and should not be implemented. The MZO itself is a complete disaster due to its utter disregard of communities where these new developments are taking place.

While I agree that government process tends to take longer and faster action is required - it would be absurd not to have a fast track option that included community consultation - especially for those who are directly affected by the change in the area.

In principle, Municipal Zoning Orders should never be used to go around, fast track or otherwise overrule land use decisions in municipalities with long established planning and zoning practices, including requirements for public consultation.
