Changes to the MZOs seem to be anti-democratic and remove oversight by climate, planner and heritage experts, drops advanced planning tools and muzzles local input. I agree with the following from experts. Read more

Would really need community consultation prior to any development progress/decisions. The communities deserve to have a say in what's happening in their homes and we don't want to be forced out because of large corporations.

The potential for this proposal to allow for politically-motivated decision making to override community opinion/preference/need is far too great for it to be allowed to be put in place. Read more

I believe this proposal is an affront to the democratic process. It does not allow other stakeholders -municipalities, individuals to participate on a level playing field. It is not transparent in that proposed act does not require a public viewing. Mr. Read more

Do not take away the heritage of these buildings in West Don Lands. Us as residents do not oppose development of the area and of the heritage buildings. In fact, we welcome it. But it must be done with foresight and community consultation, and care for the environmental and community impact. Read more

I am not okay with this proposal, for I have seen the actions the Province of Ontario has tried to take on land within Toronto that was deemed as Heritage Buildings (the foundry). The province started demolition without Ciry or Public knowledge. Read more

I am a resident of Toronto's Corktown community and I am absolutely outraged at the Province's use of Minister Zoning Orders (MZO's) to tear down our historical buildings, like the Dominion Foundry Buildings. Read more

I object to the enhanced authority given to the MInister by these provisions in the Planning Act. Such authority to override municipal decisions goes against basic democratic principles and places too much arbitrary power in the hands of the Minister. Read more

Regarding Foundry on Eastern Ave situation: Ontario government allowing themselves to bypass local planning to build whatever they want completly disregarding local aurhorities is outrageous. Should be possible ONLY for national security and building condos is nothing close to national security. Read more

Doing deals in darkness is the antithesis of democracy. If you allow this to happen, you allow this type of thing to happen more regularly because there's precedent. Read more

The foundry should be used as a art centre and work space for youths and struggling artists. Also as a museum and gallery space for artists. Also create loft space for artists. We have a lot of affordable housing in the area all ready. Read more

Government must respect city planing they do not have the right to use their power to give special privilege to their supporters by circumventing city planing, and it's processes. It is a corrupt way to govern behind closed doors. Read more

This act is problematic as it gives far too much power to the government and weakens the constitution. Checks and balances such as environmental protection, community consultation should not be bypassed for the sake of efficiency. These are critical, functioning features of a democracy.
