Why consultation isn't required
The Analytical Protocol document was posted as part of supporting materials for a decision notice posted on the Environmental Registry of Ontario (ERO number 019-2462). This notice has been posted in order to advise the public that the Analytical Protocol under Part XV.1 of the Environmental Protection Act (EPA) has been amended, and also to satisfy the notice requirements of s.177(6) of the EPA for rolling incorporation by reference. The amended document does not contain any policy changes to the Excess Soil Quality standards.
Bulletin details
We have made two amendments to the document: Protocol for analytical methods used in the assessment of properties and excess soil quality under Part XV.1 of the Environmental Protection Act (Version 3.0 as of November 30, 2020, revised to Version 3.1 as of February 19, 2021):
-
We updated the document title
The new title is: Protocol for analytical methods used in the assessment of properties under Part XV.1 of the Environmental Protection Act and excess soil quality. This changes the placement of the words ‘and excess soil quality’ within the document title to provide better accuracy of the title relative to the Environmental Protection Act.
-
We revised specifications related to the parameter cyanide
On page 44, specifications related to the parameter cyanide have been revised to better align with the analytical method principle (e.g. the parameter “total cyanide” has been revised to the more appropriate parameter of “weak acid dissociable cyanide”).
The two amendments made to the protocol take effect on the date this notice is published in the Environmental Registry.
