I have voted conservative in every election since I turned 18 years old. I will not vote for provincial conservatives again if one single acre of the greenbelt is sold off. This is the blatant type of corporate corruption that goes on within the LPC.

Hamilton does not need to expand. It needs to grow up, not out. There is plenty of undeveloped and underdeveloped areas in the city that can be used to build the necessary housing.
This is a short-sighted plan purporting to solve a long-term issue. In 3-4 decades, when Canada has a significantly larger population, we will heavily rely on arable land like the Greenbelt to produce enough food.

Why destroy protected lands when we have plenty of space for development in and around the GTA?
What will destroying the green belt do besides feed Fords developer buddies? Will we be building schools, hospitals, roads, services, entertainment, ect?

This is a very short sighted proposal! Agreed that we do need more housing, but not at the expense of giving up protected land in the green belt.

I'm fine if area is taken from the Greenbelt for housing but for every acre taken two acres elsewhere should be protected. I'd also prefer see more push from your government for family sized condos/apartments in the city to lessen the sprawl in the GTA.
This is ridiculous. After the huge public outcry in 2018, Ford walked back his plans to develop the Greenbelt, saying that he was "listening to the people". But now, just a few short years later, he's storming ahead with his original plan, once again citing housing needs as a flimsy excuse.

Page 10 of MMAH's Report of the Ontario Housing Affordability Task Force states:
"But a shortage of land isn’t the cause of the problem. Land is available, both inside the existing built-up areas and on undeveloped land outside greenbelts."

The proposed amendments to the greenbelt plan, a plan designed to preserve ontarios natural beauty and ecosystems, is another example of the Ford government continuing to break promises if it means they can profit.

This is ecologically destructive and will contribute to our climate crisis. The Greenbelt is there to protect and filter our water and air and damage to it cannot be undone - turning it into another paved car-centric region will have terrible environmental consequences.

Doug Ford got in promising not to mess with the greenbelt. It was designed to protect watersheds, farmland, and wildlife . Once it is gone we can never get it back. The substitutions proposed are laughable, many of them are already protected. Housing is needed in cities, not in the greenbelt.

This project is a bad idea. The reduction of this greenspace will be bad for the environment, and the additional homes --- without adequate mass transit infrastructure --- will negatively impact the livability of the surrounding region.
