Please save our beautiful Black Ash trees. Beaconsfield Quebec takes their ash trees seriously. They put out natural Ash borer controls like Fraxiprotec Fungus funnels (though sometimes the bottom tray falls off). They also use TreeAzin (neem tree sap).

For the goal of collecting genetic information from resistant ash trees, there is a known cluster of resistant ash trees at Hawk's Cliff, Port Stanley. The land they are situated on is owned by Thames Talbot Land Trust. I am sure they would be supportive of these initiatives.

As an Ecologist based in Central Ontario, and a certified wetland evaluator per the OWES, I am pleased to see that the protections for Black Ash are limited to the extent of the cause of its decline - the Emerald Ash Borer distribution.

I can personally attest, any kind of living ash tree in southern Ontario is exceedingly rare. I strongly believe any efforts to protect ash trees in general would be futile, if they haven’t died already, they will.
