Hello, I'd like to register my disapproval for adding provincial oversight to municipal bike lanes. My objections: - No more red tape: adding more government involvement increases bureaucratic bloat. Small government is key to efficiency! Read more

I drive through Toronto frequently and find the cyclists here very aggressive. I worry that if the bike lanes were removed, it would be much more dangerous with these guys weaving in and out of the car lanes. Read more

I DO NOT support this bill. Every evidence, study, analysis and data shows that bikes reduce traffic, improve people's overall physical and mental health as well as the quality of the air. Car emissions not only pollute our air, they also increase diseases such as lung cancer. Read more

I bike to drop my 2 kids off at school and then continue on to commute to work every day. Preventing new bike lanes and removing existing lanes will but me and my children in danger, and potentially add one more car to the road if I feel like cycling isn’t a safe option. Read more

Hello -- I would like to share my strong objections to the entirety of Schedule 4 of this Bill. The new legislative powers being allocated to the Minister of Transportation are disproportionate and do not reflect evidence of existing issues with the municipal creation and maintenance of Bike Lanes. This is a ridiculous bill. The province has significantly more important issues to deal with, like Metrolinx utterly failing the LRT projects, not to mention housing and healthcare. Every bike on the street is one fewer car; every car added INCREASES the gridlock. Read more

As someone who has been car-free for seven years and gets around by bike or transit, I am very disappointed with the Ford government's proposal to require provincial approval for bike lanes which remove traffic lanes, as well as require reviews of existing bike lanes. Read more

Cities are more than capable of making their own decisions about bike lanes. It is a waste of taxpayer resources for the provincial government to insert itself, uninvited, into a municipal issue like cycling infrastructure.

The proposal for Bill 212 demonstrates a continuing and increasing practice of government overreach by the current Ontario provincial administration into the affairs of these so-called "prescribed municipalities". Read more

More space for cars is the last thing the city needs. The targeted lanes are in central locations with ample transit. Safe Active transportation is table stakes in every livable city in the world. Insane to bring this up at a time where we should want as many people as possible out of cars

I do *not* support this bill. As a long term Toronto resident living in the core (who drives, cycles, walks, takes TTC) I am most anxious that our leaders address gridlock. However not at the expense of taking away bike lanes which HELP move people around the city. Read more

I urge the Environmental Registry of Ontario to take strong action in support of expanding bike lane networks across Ontario by stopping the "Framework for bike lanes that require removal of a traffic lane" of Bill 212 - Reducing Gridlock, Saving You Time Act, 2024. Read more

The problem with this proposal is that it fails to realize congestion is as a result of most people ditching other means of transport to go for cars: and if safety of cyclists is not assured through dedicated lanes, more people will ditch cycling to get cars and congestion will get worse : furthermo Read more

Yeah hi, so every study ever has concluded that adding an extra lane of traffic never really relieves congestion. More cars makes cities less functional. This is coming from a guy who primary mode of transportation is a car. Read more

This is the most idiotic legislation. Many studies have shown adding car lanes will NOT solve traffic congestion. Only way is to get people to use transit and micro mobility. I strongly oppose this legislation. Read more

Studies across North America have shown that the addition of cycling lanes, particularly when a car lane is removed, can lead to mixed outcomes regarding overall congestion. Read more
