Many studies around the world repeatedly show that bike lanes reduce traffic congestion. Removing the bike lanes will have the opposite effect you are hoping for. You should look into induced demand, it works for all modes of transportation. Read more

Gridlock is a serious problem, but the right way to reduce gridlock is to fund convenient public transportation, not by a by adding more cars to the road. The removal of bike lanes will only endanger cyclists, and lead to more gridlock. This is a bad bill.

I am not opposed to bike lanes, if they are being used. However, I am opposed to the bike lanes on Yonge St. Where there are very few bikes compared to the car traffic. Furthermore, the bike lanes on Yonge St. Are both dangerous for bikers and extremely ugly. They should be removed.

Bike lanes are an important part of the transportation system. People use bikes for many reasons like accessibility, affordability, or preference. They offer a mode of transportation for those that cannot/do not want to drive or do not own a car. Cyclists will exist with or without bike lanes. Read more

This proposal is incredibly foolhardy and wasteful. Removing bike lanes encourages more congestion as more people will take their cars. There is no reason to do something like this other than for petty political point scoring. Read more

Allowing bike lanes in the downtown area particualarly Yonge Street is dangerous for the bikers, the pedestrians and clogs the traffic lanes. It also makes it dangerous for motorists getting into their parked vehicles. The bike lanes are only occasionaly used

The province should stay out of decision-making that affects the municipal level. In the cities, bike lanes are extremely important to reducing grid lock as they get more cars off the road and allow those that depend on cars to be able to take advantage of this space.

The provincial government should not be wasting their efforts meddling in municipal affairs. Instead, they should be spending their time fixing things it already has jurisdiction over (health care, education, etc).

This is a thinly veiled attempt to sweep aside important environmental checks on the development of Highway 413. The area it is proposed to be built through contains fragile ecosystems with rare species that have been destroyed and lost in most of the rest of the Province. Read more

This bill is not in the best interest of the people of Ontario. It will increase congestion and reduce the safety of people of all ages. The province should not commit this act of gross overreach into municipal domain and allow cities to build the infrastructure they need. Read more

This is the dumbest idea I've heard from a government with a lot of bad ideas. Bike lanes provide a safer way to move lots of people OUT of cars and therefore make traffic lighter. They make LESS traffic. There are studies that show this. They've been cited on TVO, CBC, and in the Star. Read more
