The province should not be micromanaging cities and adding new layers of red tape by requiring cities to get approval for bike lanes. Study after study shows that bike lanes reduce congestion. Ontario PC’s will definitely lose my support in the next election if this is passed.

It boggles my mind that we are considering burning more public money to reverse something terrific, and by doing so, not not only will we inconvenience Torontonians, but studies from around the world show that this will only make traffic congestion worse! Read more

Maybe if we were all refreshed on the rules of the road in Ontario, we might have a little bit less gridlock, if everybody was actually driving the way you're supposed to traffic wouldn't be so frustrating. Read more

Premier Doug Ford is abusing his power. Torontonians should not have to suffer because he got his feelings hurt when he lost the mayoral election. Municipalities should have a degree of independence to govern based on their resident’s needs. Read more

I am writing to express my frustration and disappointment at the proposal of the provincial government to remove bike lanes in Toronto. As a driver and cyclist in this city, I rely on bike lanes to keep my drive safe and fast and reduce stress. Read more

I disagree with this proposal. I am a strong advocate of bike lanes. Studies has proven bike lanes does not cause traffic. Cars create traffic. If you want to get rid of traffic, get rid of cars. Create better alternative transportation. I am deeply sadden in the direction of Ontario going. Read more

This has to be the worst legislation I have ever heard of. Why would the province need to insert itself into municipal affairs? Adding additional red tape, destroying built infrastructure, going with 'feelings over facts' and wasting my hard-earned money. Read more

The province should not be interfering in these types of affairs. I am not a cyclist and never will be due to injury, but as a motorist, I see how segregated bike lanes have helped to improve safety and traffic flow. Read more

Dear Ford Gov’t, This legislation is counter to the whole ‘cut the red tape’ act that the Ford government espouses. Adding yet another layer of bureaucracy for your newly minted Ministry of Red Tape Reduction to turn around and tell you is a make work project and beyond asinine. Read more

As a resident of Toronto who works in Toronto and relies solely on my bicycle to commute to work and get around the city, I would like to ask how many minutes of an average driver's time is my life and well-being worth? Read more

I strongly oppose Ontario Bill 212 – Reducing Gridlock, Saving You Time Act, 2024, as it could severely limit the development of much-needed bike lanes by creating unnecessary barriers to removing traffic lanes. Read more

This is utterly unnecessary level of government overreach. Adding cost and bureaucracy to a process that is already moving too slowly is a waste of government resources and against conservative principles of limited government.

I strongly object to the framework. Municipalities are the best decision-makers for this matter and the province is NOT! Moreso, this is a step back and not toward healthy communities!

The real cause of congestion is all the construction of condos, causing lane closures and expropriation of space for cranes and machinery. The government is also paying millions of dollars for a new highway instead of buying the one that is already there back from private owners. Read more
