This bill is an important step towards reducing gridlock. I’m a concerned citizen in Etobicoke, and I think it’s completely irresponsible to circumvent the typical procedures required for bike lane implementation. Read more

I’ve been commuting by bike in Toronto since moving here 18 years ago. Throughout this time, I’ve been hit twice, car doored twice, and had multiple close calls. Read more

"Ontario is looking to fight gridlock and get drivers where they need to go faster" should be rephrased as "Ontario is looking to fight gridlock and get people where they need to go faster". Read more

Removing bike lanes unilaterally is significant over-reach, and puts lives at risk. Bike lanes improve health and make traffic better by getting cars off the road. Making it unsafe to cycle only pushes more people into cars, making traffic worse.

The provincial power grab outlined is this bill is a jurisdictional overreach and clear attempt to further centralize power in the hands of the premier. This is something I would expect from the Justin Trudeau Liberals and am dismayed to see such tactics used by a party under the name Conservative. Read more

This is an absurd overreach into local authority over transit infrastructure. Shoving more cars onto mid-urban roads is not going to reduce traffic in downtown. Read more

The overreach by the Ontario Government on this is astounding. I have no idea why they are spending MASSIVE amounts of money on removing bike lanes that Toronto put in to fix something they did themselves. Read more

Stripping the environmental assessments from Highway 413 project is an atrocious abuse of power and demonstrates the deep corruption of the current Ontario government.

This is a terrible idea, driven purely by culture war politics of a certain group of drivers thinking they are superior, and the Premier's vendetta against Toronto. Read more

This is amazing and a long time coming. I've lived in Bloor West in Toronto for 20 years and it was incredible how bad the traffic got almost overnight after the installation of bike lanes. Read more

Induced demand is a known concept, cars should not be the prioritized way to travel. We can build waste our money building infinite roads and highways or we can follow Europe and Asia in solving a solved problem.

This is one of the most misguided pieces of legislature that I have ever seen. We have an absolute CRISIS LEVEL budgetary backlog in our city that is caused by us having too many vehicular travel lanes. Read more

This is a complete waste of taxpayer money. If the goal was really to reduce gridlock, you would invest more in public transportation and aim to reduce the number of cars on the road. Read more

I write to express my unequivocal and adamant opposition to the Highway 403 expansion proposal and the reckless removal of bike lanes. The expansion of Highway 403 is not only misguided but a deeply irresponsible policy that defies all known evidence on the dangers of induced demand. Read more
