I have lived in Toronto for 50 years and I have seen some monumentally stupid and destructive things happen to Ontario and Toronto but this level of small minded stupidity in the service of adversarial politics is a new level of idiocy. Read more

I am a professional engineer here in Ontario. This is a ridiculous overstep of the provincial government. Bike lanes are a proven benefit and should be improved and expanded, not the reverse. The government should be ashamed of even considering this.

What is the true purpose of this bill? The beginning of the proposal discusses: - gridlock in urban cores - congestion on controlled access highways - the construction of new controlled access highways - rural internet access Read more

Since the bike lanes have been available I have been able to ride my tricycle a lot more safely. I have a disability and my tricycle is my way of exercising and staying active. Before the bike lanes I would ride on the sidewalk where I would often receive verbal abuse. Read more

Absolutely not, utterly ridiculous. This bill goes against everything that needs to happen in Toronto to make the city more livable - a reduction in parking allocation, addition of pedestrian-centric transportation modes, and a reduction in the CO2 emissions for cleaner air. Read more

I am mostly a driver and I believe that removing bike lanes is an absolutely HORRIBLE idea. I have personally driven through Bloor W and Yonge where there are bike lanes and they are wonderful additions. Read more

This is shortsighted. Removing bike lanes means more bikes are in the right hand lane, slowing traffic and creating a dangerous situation. The new bike lanes on University ave are excellent. They are good looking, and aren’t impacting traffic flow negatively. Read more

Bike lanes save lives. They allow our children to get to school safely. Kids who walk or bike to school are happier, healthier, than their peers that are driven to school. Their parents are happier. They create less congestion on the road. Read more

Cities are far better placed than the province to determine local issues. Centralizing this power in the province will only lead to more red tape and delays in cities being able to react to their citizens. Bike lanes save lives and allow more people to get to their destinations quicker. Read more

Removing bike lines will not remove bikes from the road, it will instead make cycling on that road more dangerous for cyclists and cause more traffic issues as cyclists are forced to take the entire lane. This act will be directly responsible for cyclist deaths.

I am writing to express my disapproval of bill 212. Bill 212 fast-tracks Highway 413 by overriding local bylaws and environmental regulations and limiting public resistance. However, research shows that building new highways doesn't reduce congestion in the long term. Read more

I am in full support of removing bike lanes. The traffic on Bloor has been horrendous since the implementation of bike lanes during COVID. These like lanes are hardly used especially in the long winter months. Read more

Traffic congestion is a huge problem in every major city across Ontario. Particularly in Toronto, with the 401 holding the record of busiest highway in North America, moving 450,000 people a day (beating Orange County, California at just 300,000 people/day). Read more
