I urge the Ontario government to withdraw Bill 5. This bill significantly weakens environmental protections, particularly for endangered species, and undermines Indigenous rights. Read more

I strongly oppose these proposed changes. "The government would also have discretion to remove protected species from the list." = This is a key point of concern. No science first based decisions, but more political interference to direct more control and power. Read more

It feels imperative to me to protect our sensitive ecological surroundings against developer maliciousness, and any weakening, speeding up, or lifting of existing regulations is absurd and stupid and enormously short-sighted. Read more

Bill 5 is a complete removal of any form of meaningful environmental protection for the sake of land development, and is, at best, completely naive in its assumption that any voluntary efforts will be made to maintain environmental protections in lieu of legal obligation. Read more

I am old enough to remember when we didn't have bills supporting the environment or wildlife, hell, even human life. I remember what happened when previous governments cut programs and oversight involving environmental concerns. People died. Read more

This is short sighted and irreversible damage will be done. There’s no coming back from this…. We depend on nature to live. How can any government think this is acceptable to its electorate. It goes against our values as Canadians. This can not go forward.

I OPPOSE Bill 5. Please do not take away Indigenous rights, land protection rights and rights of Canadian people to enjoy and be at peace in nature. This is a dangerous proposal to remove those. I oppose and we will not support this bill. Read more

I do not agree with this change, there is not enough preliminary oversight. Endangered species are ENDANGERED species and this is just appalling!! Something the Trump administration is fostering!!

Please please reconsider what message is being sent by allowing such a bill to be authorized. This isn't progress, it's moving backwards in a time that we need to protect what natural landscapes and habitat we have left. Leave the resources in the ground, and stop development and extraction. We need to protect the endangered species in Ontario, of which there are thousands. Removing the protections mean that many will be obliterated. These species are important to me and to all of us. I ask that you leave the endangered species act as is.

We are in a global biodiversity crisis. In Ontario alone, more than 230 plants and animals are at risk. The healthy forests, waters and wetlands species at risk rely on sustain all Ontarians. I urge your government to: Read more

The proposed changes to the endangered species act removes long standing protections for endangered species and would be detrimental for these species across the province. These changes only benefit development and not the natural resources or species that need protection. Read more
