I am writing to urge your government not to change the Endangered Species Act as proposed in Bill 5. The wildlife and natural areas of our province need more protection, not less. Projects that destroy their habitat will make it almost impossible to bring these species back.

Commenting as a private citizen and resident of Beaches East-York that I strongly oppose this proposal. I am fully supportive of, and strongly second, Mary-Margaret McMahon's comments on the proposal.
This is a bad bill and needs to be withdrawn. It only benefits development at the expense of nature. The people of Ontario need to protect the nature they have and not make it easier to destroy.
The proposed interim changes to Ontario’s Endangered Species Act, 2007 (ESA), and the introduction of the Species Conservation Act, 2025 (SCA), represent a significant regression in environmental protection, prioritizing private economic interests over ecological integrity.

I strongly disagree with this proposed bill. I understand the pressures from fluctuating international relationships have led to the provincial government wanting to strengthen the Canadian economy, but I do not think this should be done in a way that degrades our natural ecosystems.

The numbers of engangered species this will increase hardship for makes this legislation indefensible. The refusal to see the need for the biodiversity in these areas just for the cause of development of those whom have other options should not be considered.

I am a Species At Risk biologist who has dedicated my adult life to protecting wild species and I am gutted to see the premier trying to destroy all the progress my colleagues and I have made. The current ESA is science based, with the aim to protect species, ecosystem, and genetic diversity.

The proposed bill raises serious concerns about its alignment with scientific integrity, Indigenous rights, and long-term ecological stewardship.

Once again the environment takes a back seat to money. You want to build more housing? Developers love nice flat farmland and vacant wetlands. Toronto is full of unused and underused space. It also has transit and sewers and hydro yet you ignore this

I oppose Bill 5. The government must act responsibly to protect Ontario’s environment, not line the pockets of developers for Doug Fors’s vanity projects.
I am writing to you to voice great concern over the proposed changes to Ontario’s Endangered Species Act under Bill 5 “Protect Ontario by Unleashing our Economy Act, 2025”.

Many conservation organizations have already highlighted the major and direct impact of this bill on our wildlife. The fact that this bill would have deterimental effects on our envrionment has already been well established. In this comment I will focus on the societal implications of this bill.
