I am writing to urge your government not to change the Endangered Species Act as proposed in Bill 5. The wildlife and natural areas of our province need more protection, not less. Projects that destroy their habitat will make it almost impossible to bring these species back. Read more

Commenting as a private citizen and resident of Beaches East-York that I strongly oppose this proposal. I am fully supportive of, and strongly second, Mary-Margaret McMahon's comments on the proposal.

This is a bad bill and needs to be withdrawn. It only benefits development at the expense of nature. The people of Ontario need to protect the nature they have and not make it easier to destroy.

The numbers of engangered species this will increase hardship for makes this legislation indefensible. The refusal to see the need for the biodiversity in these areas just for the cause of development of those whom have other options should not be considered. Read more

I am a Species At Risk biologist who has dedicated my adult life to protecting wild species and I am gutted to see the premier trying to destroy all the progress my colleagues and I have made. The current ESA is science based, with the aim to protect species, ecosystem, and genetic diversity. Read more

I am deeply worried about the implications and effects of the proposed Bill 5 (making changes to the Endangered Species Act) and urge the immediate withdrawal and rethinking of this bill, and indeed the approach of the government to nature and wildlife. Read more

Once again the environment takes a back seat to money. You want to build more housing? Developers love nice flat farmland and vacant wetlands. Toronto is full of unused and underused space. It also has transit and sewers and hydro yet you ignore this Read more
