On April 29, 2019, the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing filed a Zoning Order with the Registrar of Regulations as Ontario Regulation 76/19 to permit commercial and employment land uses on a property in the City of Vaughan. We want to inform you of this decision even though we are not required to under the Environmental Bill of Rights.
To address the need for better affordable housing choices, the Promoting Affordable Housing Act, 2016 proposed amendments to the Planning Act that would enable municipalities to use inclusionary zoning through the land-use planning system. Based on input received on this proposal, matters were considered for regulatory proposals.
We've made changes that would help increase the supply of affordable housing by providing municipalities with an additional tool that they can use to address affordable housing needs.
