Permit for activities to achieve an overall benefit to a species and/or to pay a species conservation charge (ESA s.17(2) (c))
This permit authorizes a person, company, or organization to perform the activity if they provide an overall benefit to the species in Ontario and/or pay a species conservation charge.
They may need a permit for activities to achieve an overall benefit to a species and/or to pay a species conservation charge if:
- the activity is not for the protection or recovery of a species at risk
- the activity is not for the protection of human health or safety
- the activity will not provide a significant social or economic benefit to Ontario
- It is not a band (as defined in the federal Indian Act), a tribal council, or an organization that represents a territorially based Aboriginal community
