Proposal details
The Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing is in receipt of the Town of Milton Official Plan, 2026 for a decision. The new Official Plan was adopted by the Town of Milton Council on June 22, 2026, pursuant to sections 17 and 26 of the Planning Act by By-law 056-2026.
If approved, the Town of Milton Official Plan, 2026 will replace the current in-effect Official Plan, with the exception of certain Secondary Plans and amendments to the Town’s current in-effect Official Plan.
The new Official Plan builds on Official Plan Amendment 92, which was approved by the Ministry with modifications on December 19, 2025, and establishes a comprehensive policy framework to guide growth and development to 2051. It introduces new objectives, growth management strategies, and implementation tools to achieve its vision, supported by updated land use schedules and mapping. The Official Plan addresses a broad range of policy areas, including but not limited to growth management, housing, employment, agriculture, natural and cultural heritage, infrastructure, and transportation.
The Ministry will review the matter for consistency and conformity with applicable provincial land use policies and plans and will consider all feedback received before presenting any potential modifications to the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing for a decision in accordance with section 17 of the Planning Act.
