The Niagara Escarpment Commission has amended the Niagara Escarpment Plan to accommodate the land use designation for a parcel of land located in Bruce County.

Niagara Escarpment Plan Amendment PB 196 was approved by the Minister on April 11, 2017. The Amendment changes the Niagara Escarpment Plan land use designation on the subject lands from Escarpment Recreation Area to Escarpment Natural Area, and the following clause is added to Part 1.3 of the Niagara Escarpment Plan:
Notwithstanding the other permitted uses set out in the section, the lands identified as Lot 9 to 20 and Hunter Court road allowance on Plan 3m-117, being Part of Lot 7, Concession 14 EBR, in the Municipality of Northern Bruce Peninsula (formerly Eastnor Township), Bruce County shall be set aside and managed for permanent conservation and environmental protection and preservation.
Effects of consultation
No comments were received in response to the Environmental Registry notice. However, as a result of the notification requirements under the Niagara Escarpment Planning and Development Act, three supportive comments were received, and two comments expressed no objection to the proposal. No changes were made to the amendment as originally proposed.
No Appeal exists on the ministry's decision.

Description of policy
The Niagara Escarpment Commission (NEC) is proposing to amend the Niagara Escarpment Plan (NEP) by changing the land use designations for a parcel of land located in Bruce County.
This amendment proposes to re-designate 12 lots owned by the Ontario Heritage Trust (OHT) from Escarpment Recreation Area to Escarpment Natural Area. The subject lands are part of Plan 3M-117, Part Lot 7, Concession 17 in the Municipality of Northern Bruce Peninsula, Bruce County. The intent of the amendment is to ensure the permanent conservation of these lands due to their natural and cultural heritage significance.

A notice was also placed in the Wiarton Echo newspaper on November 4, 2014.
