We are running out of time to save the planet from the catastrophic impacts of climate change. Cap and trade is necessary to move forward toward a sustainable future. The IPCC report and the recent Nobel Prize winning work on climate change show the problem and the solution. Read more

Cap and trade is one of the only ways to hold organizations responsible for the negative externalities they create. I.e., carbon emissions. This system is an important “check” to entice organizations to reduce their effects on the environment and in turn climate change. Read more

Global climate scientists have given us an ultimatum - we have 12 years to make drastic changes to our carbon and GHG emissions before we pass the 2C threshhold and the world will be forever changed for the worse. You represent us, DO SOMETHING. You HAVE TO!

We need to help people save energy and create jobs in the $26 trillion clean economy. We must make polluters pay for their emissions and return those revenues to Ontarians. We must have legally binding emissions targets in line with our obligations to the Paris Climate Agreement. Read more

I strongly oppose this Act. Climate change inaction is costly, full stop. What is the government's plan to act on climate change? You are putting our lives, not to mention our economy, in danger--the risk is clear, and inaction is willful neglect. Read more

Please keep cap and trade in place until a suitable replacement is put forward. Then intelligently wind this down while ramping up the replacement scheme, whatever it may be. Avoid lawsuits and going to court over cancelled contracts. Keep momentum in reducing GreeHouse Gases. Be responsible.

Given the recent IPCC report, cancelling cap and trade us reckless and dangerous. Ontario should be a leader in green energy—this will be a sector of economic growth as we have to grapple with the realities of climate change. Please do not go ahead with this repeal.
