Proposed changes in Bill 108 to the Development Charges Act will only absolve developers from their financial responsibility for community improvement.

Do not weaken the existing protection for the environment and endangered/protected species by allowing development companies to pay to be allowed to build without ensuring that the environment and wildlife are properly protected.
Bill 108 is clearly suited for developers’ interests. I find it irresponsible to pass a bill that will let developers pay to break the law, while ignoring scientific evidence about the environment.

By providing developers with free reign, you are putting the Toronto at a disadvantage. The fees provided by developers are used to support the increased populations that will be living in the new communities.

The Council of the Corporation of the City of Pickering passed Resolution #98/19 expressing serious concerns with Bill 108 - (Schedule 3) and requests numerous amendments prior to passing this legislation. See Letter to Minister Clark and a copy of Report to Council PLN 14-19.

Bill 108 will slash supports for growing community services and halt progress on projects and initiatives that are already underway. The so-called "intent" of the bill, to reduce the cost of housing and increase supply, does not reflect what the bill contains.
