I feel strongly that the proposed changes to the Ontario Heritage Act have been finalized hastily and without sufficient input from Ontario's heritage groups and interested individuals. Please expand the opportunities for consultation on this important issue.

This is legislation that should not be passed. First and foremost we have regulations to protect our sensitive lands from development. The resulting effects following the introduction of this bill will decimate the value on due process and regulations from developers. Read more

The government's proposals will not create more lower cost or affordable housing and in the process, much lower cost housing which exists in older buildings, heritage and otherwise, will be destroyed. In short, the proposed legislation is over-hasty, rash and ill-conceived.
