Why consultation isn't required
We amended the Renewable Energy Approval for the Cochrane Solar Project to construct an access road between the Empire and Martin's Meadows areas of the facility, and to construct a storage building on the Martin's Meadows portion of the facility.
This notice informs you of the amendment to the Renewable Energy Approval and your right to require a hearing in respect of this decision.
We consider this a minor amendment and do not expect it to have any significant impact on the environment. Therefore, public consultation is not required.
Bulletin details
We amended Renewable Energy Approval No. 1290-9A4KSE to construct an access road between the Empire and Martin's Meadows areas of the facility, and to construct a storage building on the Martin's Meadows portion.
Since the amendment application was submitted, the company identified the need to construct a storage building on the Martin's Meadows portion of the facility in an existing disturbed area close to the existing operations and maintenance building. The purpose of the storage building is to house snow removal equipment.
All of the details regarding the project changes are included in the Modification Document posted on the company's public website.
Re-confirmation letters from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry and the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport are not required because the changes did not result in relocating any project components beyond the project location that was already assessed.
This Class 3 solar facility, known as the Cochrane Solar Project, is located in the geographical Township of Glackmeyer, within the Town of Cochrane.
