Part of the proposed pit is within a source water protection area. The nearby wells supply a significant amount of the water for Waterloo Region. Contamination by an oil spill or other toxic waste could run into the well and ruin this source of our water. Read more

The proposed Hallman Pit will violate the Climate Emergency Declaration of Wilmot Township. It makes no sense to have a gravel pit in a Source Water Protection Area and the loss of habitat and animal life is completely unconscionable. Read more

I am opposed to this proposal. The hundreds of thousands of truck trips per year will create traffic hazards for pedestrians, cyclists, school buses, agricultural machinery and local drivers. It will also unnecessarily contribute to carbon emissions.

I strongly object to the Hellman Pit, the known negative impact on our precious water, the environmental concern and the trucking impact. There are enough pits to meet our needs! Don’t need another!

The proposed Hallman Pit will violate the Climate Emergency Declaration of Wilmot Township. Putting a gravel pit in a Source Water Protection Area is a terrible idea! Noise and dust will create severe negative health effects. Read more
