Proposal details

Application has been made by Greenwood Construction Company Limited to amend the current site plan to allow for the following changes:

  • reduce the extraction setback to 0 metres and remove the fencing requirements where the pit is adjacent to Aggregate Resources Act (ARA) Licence No. 80956 and the proposed Greenwood East and Greenwood West Pit expansion applicaitons
  • revise the rehabilitation plan to reflect the removal of the setbacks
  • amend the area of extraction to reflect the increased extraction area as a result of the proposed reduction of the setbacks  
  • it is proposed that all tonnage removed from the licenced site, adjacent ARA Licence No. 80956 and the proposed Greenwood East and Greenwood West pits be combined for total annual tonnage of 2,000,000 tonnes
  • add conditions to the site plan specifying:
    • requirements for species at risk surveys prior to land clearing and the timing of site activity
    • defining the hours of operations at the site as 6 a.m. to 6 p.. Monday to Friday and 7 a.m. to 12 noon Saturday
    • the conditions under which importation of aggregate and imported fill will be permitted
    • a maximum disturbed area of 81 ha for this site and adjacent licence ARA Licence No. 80956
    • the location of fuel storage
    • mitigation measures for dust control, complaint protocol, ground water monitoring, back-up alarms and a spill contingency plan
  • update the existing features page of the site plan to indicate the berm location and zoning of adjacent lands.

Other information

Greenwood Construction Company Limited operates this licensed site under the authority of ARA Licence No. 10606. In total 87.5 hectares are currently licensed as a pit below the water table.  The site has an unlimited tonnage condition. 

Greenwood Construction Company Limited also currently operates the adjacent site under the authority of ARA Licence No. 80956. In total, 60.8 hectares are currently licensed as a pit above the water table with an annual tonnage condition of 500,000 tonnes.  Amendments to the site plan have also been requested for this adjacent licence.
