I can't express how much this is needed here in the North and how much it is appreciated to get support for our great North!!! We can all work together towards this plan where we will all make our province a better place to live for generations to come!!!
Road improvement, upkeep and extension is extremely important to the Municipality of the North Shore, as is continuation of and extension of rail service; not only commercial but passenger as well. Huron Central has, in the past, required bail outs to make their operation financially viable.

I agree that investment in a reliable transportation system will help bring communities out of poverty. I would like the province to continue the Highway 69 wildlife crossing and fence project. All transportation projects must take wildlife safety into consideration.

While OGRA is generally supportive of most of the plan, there are two areas in which we wish to underline our support. First, is the initiative to improve winter maintenance on northern highways. This is an issue that affects many communities in the north and in which we have heard the most about.

There is lots of mention of support for far north airports; however, due to Covid all of the airports in north are having difficulties with operating and capital expenditures. Please review this option to help them keep operating. We need them post pandemic.

On behalf of the Chief and Council of Keewaywin First Nation in Northwestern Ontario, we recommend that the Northern Ontario Transportation Plan of 2021 include the plans for an all season road that will connect Keewaywin First Nation with the Ontario provincial highway network.
