I stress the importance of approving the Waterloo Region ROP as it is. It was overwhelmingly approved by all our area municipalities and Regional government. We need to prevent devastating urban sprawl affecting our agricultural land, groundwater, and green space. Read more

I am writing to urge you to accept The Region of Waterloo’s Registered Official Plan (ROP) as is and leave it unchanged. This plan was developed over a long period of time by local people who know this region and care about it deeply. They know what is the best plan for Waterloo Region. Read more

If the province wants to encourage home building, following Waterloo Region's Official Plan Amendment No. 6 would be a wise choice. It was approved by Regional Council in August with wide support from citizen groups, and it plans to accommodate 125,000 homes by 2031. Read more

The Region of Waterloo has worked very hard with citizens to come up with a sustainable forward looking Plan. It provides for housing development while still protecting important farmland. It is important to the citizens of this region that the Plan be approved. Local input cannot be ignored! Read more

On August 18, 2022, the Regional Municipality of Waterloo adopted Official Plan Amendment 6 by By-law 09-025. The official plan amendment is now before the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing for a decision in accordance with Sections 17 and 26 of the Planning Act. Read more

The region of Waterloo has done an enormous amount of work over the last 10 to 20 years to come up with regards to building up the cities in a way that provides access to Transit and also create some Environmental Protections for the significant farming communities in the area. Read more
