As a 30 year resident of Pickering, I implore you not to touch the Greenbelt in Pickering/Markham just north of Rouge Urban Park. This land should be preserved for future generations. It is premium farm land which cannot substituted for the same quality land somewhere further afield.

I strongly believe that we need to keep the greenbelt from being developed and we really need to look elsewhere if we are attempting to build on protected space.
Our Premier is compromised. He is giving land that should be protected to people that have paid him. There should be a criminal investigation into these actions.
Hell no!!! Besides the fact that it's a transparent land grab with some people (close to the government) making huge amounts of money, the land that was designated as part of the greenbelt was done so for a reason, to protect ecologically sensitive or valuable land.
Doug Ford specifically said he would not "touch the Greenbelt" in 2018. Many people would have changed their vote if they had know this would be the outcome. This is not democracy.

Greenbelt land was designated after significant scientific studies and extensive public consultation and cannot just be whittled away without significant justification and extensive public consultation.
Adding already protected river valleys to the plan cannot be used to justify removals.

As a native Canadian i am very concerned about the irreparable damage to the ecosystem and animal habitat. Additionally since no one is actively or actually monitoring water at the source we are heading towards ecological disaster.
The Greenbelt should remain untouched - I mean, that is its purpose. I am greatly concerned of the Ontario government's plan to amend the Greenbelt Plan and would like the government to please rethink the environmental and social consequences of its actions.

Encroaching on the green belt is the wrong thing to do. We need all the green areas and farmland in Ontario that we currently have and more! We don’t want to have to import our fruits and vegetables. The green belt is important for environmental health.
