This is a great idea and a welcome change!!!! Also adjusting archery/rifle tags is needed in WMU’s where the points needed for an archery tag is higher than a rifle tag. This will help conservation as it is shorter seasons and allow more balanced hunting (bow vs rifle). Read more

Hi, regarding this proposal, resetting the hunter's points for an unclaimed tag after the second chance allocation is not ideal. This will decrease future hunting opportunities for hunting groups in following years. Read more

I would like to make a comment in a positive way to say I am glad to hear that the MNR is looking in the way allocation tag is presently done and for a better future. My comment derived from a Personnal living experience here in the Northern Ontario Cochrane Distric. Read more

The first step should be a thorough inventory of the huntable population. The second step should be trying as hard as possible to get first nations on board with accurate harvesting numbers. Read more

I believe trying to improve an already disappointing and un thought out system is pointless and a waste of time. I have only been hunting for a few years but I don't believe I will ever get a Moose tag in my area, do to the points system and only been able to hunt the weekends. Read more

I do not agree with loosing points if you do not claim a tag, how would you know if you are getting a tag? This is why a groups will have two to three people apply for the same tag so they can better their chances of getting one and if they all get one they do not need that many tags. Read more

How about just make 2nd allocation first choice have to claim their tag by a certain date say “Sept 1st” then all unclaimed tags go into a 3rd chance random draw for people that were unsuccessful in 1st and 2nd allocations to get a chance a tag. Read more

I believe if anyone claims a tag even with the “left over tags in august/september” their points should be reset to zero. Giving other hunters the opportunity to benefit the following year to get a tag.

If no one in your group draws a tag in first draw everyone in that group will probably apply in 2nd draw, then if you draw more than one tag people will have to claim all tags, most groups only want one tag because of the point system to be successfully every year, have a phone in draw for surplus t Read more

Please stop allowing outfitters to charge ridiculous prices for camp tags. ie. $10000-$20000 For a bow bull tag . Stop allowing non residents to hunt! We should not be making money off of moose hunting when their are ontario residents that cannot afford to hunt in their own province. Read more

This isn’t fair, say a group has so many members and they all apply first round and don’t receive a tag. So at this point they aren’t able to hunt second round comes around they all apply again for an adult tag hoping to draw one so the group can hunt. They get 2 or 3 tags. Read more

The tag basis should be relevant to the northern draw. With accessibility to northern residents only. Southern residents applying in northern WMU’s do not create income in these communities Therefore the basis on tag allocated should be based on jurisdictions of the applicants Thanks Read more
