Bulletin summary

A decision was made to approve a site-specific amendment to extend permissions for an existing golf use on lands in the City of Markham regulated by the Minister's Zoning Order, filed as Ontario Regulation 473/73.

The approved Minister’s Zoning amendment is filed as Ontario Regulation 551/24.

Why consultation isn't required

Part II of the Environmental Bill of Rights Act, 1993 does not apply to a proposal to amend or revoke a Minister's Zoning Order under subsection 47(8) of the Planning Act.

Bulletin details

The lands subject to this amendment are municipally known as 150 Burncrest Road in the City of Markham and are located at the south-west corner of Woodbine Avenue and Highway 407. The lands are legally described as Part of Lot 7 and 8, Concession 3.

Ontario Regulation 473/73, was made to protect for the implementation of the Parkway Belt West Plan. Lands within the Zoning Order are limited to agricultural uses, and accessory buildings and structures that will be used for an agricultural operation.

On December 18, 2024, Ontario Regulation 473/73 was amended by Ontario Regulation 551/24 to extend the permissions for an existing golf use until July 1, 2028. The effect of the amendment extends permissions for a sixth time to permit an existing golf use with an indoor and outdoor driving range on the subject lands. The existing golf use on the subject site was approved as an interim use in 1993, subject to periodic extensions.
