Proposal details

This proposal is for a new Environmental Compliance Approval (sewage) for Clovermead Apiaries Limited to install an onsite sewage system to service the Clovermead Adventure Farm facilities, located at 11302 Imperial Road in the Township of Malahide, County of Elgin, Ontario.

The proposed sewage disposal system is sized to operate with a total daily flow of 40,000 litres per day. The proposed sewage works include a collection system, treatment area consisting of septic tanks, and discharge of effluent to a raised absorption trench bed, which consists of:

  1. five (5) pump tanks, equipped with simplex sewage pumps, to convey wastewater from Site buildings to the treatment area;
  2. one (1) existing septic tank and one (1) proposed septic tank equipped with an effluent filter, and two (2) pump tanks, equipped with simplex effluent pumps, to convey wastewater from the staff quarters and north storage shed/washroom to the treatment area;
  3. four (4) septic tanks, connected in series, with an effluent filter at the outlet of the fourth septic tank (treatment area);
  4. one (1) pump tank, equipped with duplex effluent pumps, to time-dose the raised absorption trench leaching bed; and
  5. a raised fill-based absorption trench leaching bed, consisting of distribution piping, to be constructed in two (2) zones, with each zone consisting of four (4) cells.
