Why consultation isn't required
The Environmental Bill of Rights does not require this notice to be placed on the Environmental Registry. However, we are posting this bulletin for information purposes and to direct interested individuals to the Regulatory Registry for comment and full posting.
Bulletin details
The Ministry of Natural Resources is proposing to amend the CFSA to increase efficiencies associated with removing forest resources (e.g., trees) for non-forestry purposes (e.g., roads, mining, utility corridors).
Currently, these types of development projects are required to obtain a permit from the ministry to remove forest resources. We are proposing changes to the CFSA that would enable the ministry to develop a new, more efficient ‘rules in regulation’ approach that could be used in some circumstances. This will make the process easier for industry.
Future regulatory development will be necessary to enable the removal of forest resources. If the regulations are environmentally significant, they will be posted on the Environmental Registry of Ontario for consultation.
If you would like to provide feedback, please see the Regulatory Registry notice, linked below.
