Bulletin details
Ontario’s Forest Compliance Handbook (FCH) is a comprehensive resource that compiles policies, directives, and procedures guiding forest operations compliance in Ontario. It plays a critical role in supporting the implementation of the Crown Forest Sustainability Act, 1994 by providing clear operational direction for compliance planning, monitoring, enforcement, and corrective actions.
The handbook was first developed in 1998 and subsequently revised in 2010 and 2014. The 2025 update ensures that Ministry staff and forest industry stakeholders have access to the most current and accurate information. These revisions include administrative updates to reflect changes in legislation, policy, and organizational structure, as well as improvements to accessibility to meet AODA standards.
The updated handbook strengthens Ontario’s forest compliance framework by improving clarity and consistency across compliance activities, while maintaining alignment with regulated manuals and related policies. These changes do not introduce new compliance requirements or alter operational procedures; they are intended to enhance usability and transparency.
