TransAlta Cogeneration Ltd. as general partner for and on behald of TransAlta Cogeneration, L.P. - Environmental Compliance Approval (air)

This proposal is for the renewal of the Limited Operational Flexibility for Environmental Compliance Approval (air & noise) No. 3969-9Y6JG5 for TransAlta Cogeneration Ltd. as general partner for and on behalf of TransAlta Cogeneration,L.P., operating a power cogeneration plant which produces and supplies electricity to the provincial grid, located in the City of Windsor, Ontario.

The emission sources from the manufacturing and associated processes that discharge to the air include a natural gas fired combustion turbine generator, heat recovery steam generator with accompanying natural gas fired duct burner, steam turbine generator, natural gas fired auxiliary boiler, lube oil vapour extraction fan systems, cooling towers, and storage tanks.

Emissions to the air from this facility include:

• carbon monoxide
• nitrogen oxides
• nickel
• sulphur dioxide, and
• particulate matter

The Environmental Compliance Approval with Limited Operational Flexibility (air & noise), when issued, permits modifications to the facility subject to limits on operational flexibility that include a production limit for the facility to be specified on the Environmental Compliance Approval with Limited Operational Flexibility (air & noise). The Limited Operational Flexibility conditions have an expiry date. The company will be required to make an application for amendment at that time to renew these conditions.
