York1 Environmental Waste Solutions Ltd. as general partner for and on behalf of York1 Environmental Waste Solutions LP - Environmental Compliance Approval (sewage)

This proposal is for a new Environmental Compliance Approval (ECA) for industrial stormwater management works serving a landfill site and a waste processing/transfer site located at 29831 Irish School Road in Dresden, Ontario.

The proposed stormwater management system will provide Enhanced Level water quality treatment and erosion protection, while attenuating post-development peak flows to pre-development levels for storm events up to and including the 1:100-year storm event.

Stormwater runoff from the site will be collected and conveyed through a system of swales, ditches, and berms and directed to three separate ponds for treatment. Non-contact stormwater runoff will be conveyed to the main stormwater management pond for treatment and subsequently discharged to Molly’s Creek through a Hickenbottom outlet structure. Stormwater runoff generated from the wood waste processing areas (excluding the wood waste processing concrete pad area where runoff will be separately collected and conveyed to a leachate pond which is approved under the applicable waste ECA) will be treated by Batch Pond No. 1 with a normally closed outlet valve.

Batch Pond No. 2 will provide treatment for stormwater runoff generated from the soil processing areas and will also be equipped with a normally closed outlet valve. Prior to discharge, effluent in both batch ponds will be sampled and tested, and discharge will only occur following confirmation that the analytical results do not indicate an environmental concern and that the applicable discharge requirements are satisfied.
