We have established the Species Conservation Action Agency to invest in strategic, large-scale, and coordinated actions that will support more positive outcomes for select species at risk. We also created regulations to enable use of the Species at Risk Conservation Fund and expand conditional exemptions for activities with standard approaches.
On January 20, 2023, the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing filed an amendment to Ontario Regulation (O. Reg.) 170/20 made pursuant to clause 47(8) of the Planning Act, with the Registrar of Regulations as O. Reg. 6/23.
We have decided to proceed with regulating compressed air energy storage in porous rock, making administrative changes related to trustees, and making other amendments to reference more current standards for the regulated sector.

Ontario and Canada have signed a historic bilateral conservation agreement for boreal caribou under the federal Species at Risk Act with the objective to sustain or improve the environmental conditions necessary for the recovery of the boreal caribou, while considering social and economic factors.
On January 26, 2024, the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing filed a Zoning Order, made pursuant to clause 47(1)(a) of the Planning Act, with the Registrar of Regulations as Ontario Regulation (O. Reg.) 10/24. The City of Toronto and Minister of Health requested that the Minister consider making the Zoning Order.

We have approved a new Environmental Compliance Approval (Waste Disposal Site) for the use and operation of a private waste transfer and waste processing facility.
We have issued a new Permit to Take Water No. 3887-AYENPA on May 7, 2018, which cancels and replaces Permit to take Water No. 3200-7X8HCP for Quinte's Isle Campark Incorporated located in Cherry Valley, Ontario.
The new Permit to Take Water has an expiry date of April 30,2028.
On October 22, 2020, the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing filed a Zoning Order, made pursuant to section 47(1)(a) of the Planning Act, with the Registrar of Regulations as Ontario Regulation (O. Reg.) 596/20 to facilitate the development of housing on lands known municipally as 373 Front Street East and 90 Mill Street, City of Toronto.
The proponent has informed the ministry that they have decided to withdraw their Environmental Compliance Approval application for this proposal. Should the proponent wish to re-apply, the ministry will continue to ensure the protection of the health and safety of the environment and public in its technical review of the application.
A Permit to Take Water was issued to The Mulligan Inc. Water will be taken from North Veuve River for Golf Course Irrigation purposes. The permit was approved and issued on May 4, 2021 under permit No. 5340-C2APN9.
The 2023 Annual Report from the Committee on the Status of Species at Risk in Ontario (COSSARO) to the Minister of the Environment, Conservation and Parks is now available on Ontario.ca. The report includes COSSARO’s assessments and resulting classifications of species in accordance with the Endangered Species Act, 2007.
