We are seeking public input on a proposal for three permits under the Endangered Species Act (ESA) in relation to three priority transit projects that will improve public transit in the Greater Toronto Area. The proposed permits have the potential to impact species at risk and consider options to avoid and minimize impacts on the species.
On January 26, 2022, we amended the Species at Risk in Ontario List to reflect new species at risk classifications set out in the 2019-2020 Annual Report of the Committee on the Status of Species at Risk in Ontario. This is required by the Endangered Species Act, 2007.

We have temporarily paused protections for Black Ash under the Endangered Species Act, for two years from the time when it is added to the Species at Risk in Ontario List, to allow time to develop an approach to support Black Ash protection and recovery.
We are posting finalized data survey and mapping technical guidance to support flood hazard identification and mapping by municipalities and conservation authorities in Ontario.
We are proposing to amend the Public Lands Act to reduce red-tape for clients. Changes would improve customer service and government efficiency, reduce unnecessary burdens, and provide a greater ability to make public lands available for economic development opportunities, particularly in the North.
We are seeking feedback on proposed approaches and concepts to inform fisheries management planning for Fisheries Management Zone 16 in southwestern Ontario.
