We have amended regulations made under the Environmental Protection Act and the Environmental Assessment Act to streamline permissions for combined heat and power (CHP) systems or power only systems. These amendments will align approval requirements with the level of risk, while still ensure environmental protections are in place.
We amended the Renewable Energy Approval for the Pendleton Solar Energy Centre, 830 County Road 19 in Curran, Ontario, to remove the reference in the approval to the main power transformer at the substation as the transformer is no longer required as part of the facility operations.
A new Permit to Take Water No. 1224-BRKSA7 has been issued to St. Marys Cement Inc. (Canada) on July 21, 2020 for aggregate washing purposes in the Township of North Dumfries, Ontario. The new Permit to Take Water has an expiry date of July 20, 2030.
We have made administrative amendments to O. Reg 390/18 in response to the challenges industry is facing during the COVID-19 outbreak, such as staffing shortages. The changes provide temporary relief by allowing for extensions to the 2019 greenhouse gas emissions reporting and verification deadlines.
