The Minister has issued an overall benefit permit for a single residential home development that may adversely impact Dwarf Hackberry and Eastern Hog-nosed Snake, which are species at risk. The permit includes actions to minimize adverse effects and overall benefit actions for the species.

A decision was made on November 4, 2022 to approve, with modifications, the new City of Ottawa Official Plan.  The approved official plan outlines a comprehensive framework of new and revised policies to guide growth and development to 2046.

To promote administrative efficiency, the Ministry amended O.Reg. 506/18 to streamline the exemption process for eligible building owners by removing the requirement to submit supporting documentation when requesting either an on-going or annual exemption from reporting.

Pursuant to Section 53 of the Planning Act, provisional consent was granted on August 19, 2019 regarding application 57-C-173176 for the creation of one new recreational lot on Centre Lake at PIN 31387-0075 in Galbraith unincorporated township, District of Algoma. This decision can be appealed until September 8, 2019.

Certificate of Property Use No. 5681-CW2GXG was issued to the Corporation of the City of Mississauga on December 11, 2023 for the continued use of the property as a channelized creek.

The Environmental Compliance Approval application was withdrawn by the company. As a result, no decision was made by the ministry on the application.

A provisional consent was granted subject to standard conditions on May 3, 2023. The last date to appeal the decision in May 23, 2023.

We have issued Permit to Take Water No. 6322-CRQQEE on May 12, 2023 for Parkland Terminals of Canada Inc. in the City of Hamilton, Ontario for industrial purposes. The new permit expires on May 1, 2033. Water will be taken from Lake Ontario to allow the company to undertake hydrostatic testing of storage tanks.

A decision was made on September 29, 2025, to approve, with modifications, the new Township of McGarry Official Plan, as adopted by By-law 2024-016. The approved new Township of McGarry Official Plan outlines a comprehensive framework of new and revised policies to guide growth and development.

Certificate of Property Use (CPU) 2771-D3JNKT was issued to the Town of Halton Hills on August 28, 2024, for the future use of the property as a municipal park which is a “Parkland Use”, as defined by O. Reg. 153/04 (the "Regulation"), as amended, made under the Environmental Protection Act (the "Act").

The Minister has issued an overall benefit permit under the Endangered Species Act, 2007 to 11034936 Canada Inc. for construction activities that will impact Blanding’s Turtle, which is a species at risk. The permit includes actions to benefit the species and minimize adverse effects, and requires monitoring and reporting.

Formerly Jackson Harvest Farms Ltd., now Esbaugh Management Group Ltd., was issued a licence to extract aggregate from a pit in the Township of Wilmot.

Section 172 of the Environmental Protection Act, which grants powers to investigate and establish a Board of Negotiation to consider complaints of economic damage caused by contamination to livestock, crops, trees or other vegetation, has been repealed to address overlap with existing investigative powers and other dispute resolution mechanisms.

Permit to Take Water No. 6830-D3ZKXH was issued to St. George's Golf and Country Club on May 17, 2024 to renew Permit to Take Water No. 8038-B97QWL for golf course irrigation purposes. Water will be taken from two (2) well sources in the City of Toronto.

Ontario has made changes to the Planning Act, City of Toronto Act, 2006, and Municipal Act, 2001 through the Cutting Red Tape to Build More Homes Act, 2024 (‘Bill 185’).
