The Minister has issued an overall benefit permit to The City of Richmond Hill to improve the Beaver Creek Stormwater Management Facility. This activity may adversely impact all four species at risk bats. The permit includes actions to benefit the species and minimize adverse effects.
The Minister of the Environment, Conservation and Parks has issued an overall benefit permit to the Town of LaSalle for construction activities that may impact Eastern Foxsnake and Massasauga, species at risk snakes. The permit includes actions to minimize adverse effects and benefit the species, as well as monitoring and reporting requirements.
The Mining Act was amended to enable regulations to establish a “permit by rule” model, allowing claim holders to sell the end product of a bulk sample and retain proceeds, provided that certain conditions are met. There are no anticipated environmental impacts associated with this decision.
Ontario is implementing a temporary suspension of certain provisions in the Excess Soil Regulation that came into effect January 1, 2022, until January 1, 2023. The pause will provide more time to understand the provisions and refine their implementation.
